A life that will remain with me~ Thelma....

Going through the files on my computer, I found this letter I had written to a friend. I so believe that God places people in our life to help through everything. I hope in some way you can find or be a friend such as Robyn and Thelma.....

Robyn,
You will never know how much your friendship has meant to me over the pass year. I have always truly believed that God sends us special people at special times to help us through hard times. 2006 was my hard year. With both of my children leaving home and moving to different states, you and your children help fill in the empty gaps! You gave me joy by allowing me to visit when I desperately needed someone, I was able to see your kids at play, which brighten my days, and I seen a mother that truly loved being a mother!
When I was about your age God sent a beautiful woman to me named Thelma. She was my neighbor and I loved her so much. About 6 months after we met, we found out she had cancer and only had about a year to live. God blessed her with about two extra years. Through those two years our friendship grew into a mother/daughter bond. She had two sons so the bond was easy for her. She taught me so many things about strength, courage, love and how to be true to yourself! Thelma and her husband were two to of the most prosperous people in Gwinnett but you would never know it by the life she led. The whole time she was sick she held her head high, smiled and continued serving her life for others secretly. I admired her so much. The Christmas right before her death she gave me this beautiful Christmas ornament of Santa. Each year that I pull it out of my box I thank God for this special friend that God sent me and I place that ornament center front of my tree.
You see Robyn a month after Thelma died I, was diagnosed with my systemic Lupus. The doctor told me I needed to get everything in order that I only had a year to live. The children were 1 and 5. At that point I knew why God gave me Thelma. There I found her strength and courage to continue! I told Reid that if God was going to take me then He was going to send him something even better. Thelma is still living through me daily and as you can tell doctors can be wrong and our mighty creator still rules this earth!
I hope and pray that somewhere you found Thelma still living through me and I hope that each year that you pull out this ornament that you will remember me and Thelma and find that extra strength and courage that a Mom needs to be the best she can be.
I love you and I am always here for you little girl!
Yvette

There are no words to express this beautiful letter, Yvette. I also believe that the Lord places each person we meet, even if it is for a brief second into our lives. There is always a purpose.
May God continue to bless you and your sweet family...

Hugs~n~love,
Lynn♥

What a lovely letter hon! And what a special friend. I had one too...her name was Zella and she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Never smoked a day in her life. She and I really bonded and I stayed by her side until the end. What a blessing!
Can't wait to meet up with her again in Heaven. When I am sure she has taken over the banquet tables by now.
LOL!
Hugging you
