Decorating Hints & Saying I love YOU daily...

I love to find ways to tell my husband that I love him. Some have been sweet, I love you on the bathroom mirror and some have been quirky.... He gets onto me for not replacing the toilet paper, I write I love him on the finished roll so that when he throws it away, he knows how much I appreciate him. But, for a chance to say I love You and have it permanent, use scrabble tiles. I made this little shelf from a Hobby Lobby shelf, paint and scrapbook paper. It is in our bathroom between our two mirrors. I surprised my husband one morning by placing the scrabble tile piece in front of the cross. In turn he surprised me with a little love note that sits there until this day. We may have been married for 25+ years, but we still realize the importance of letting each other know that we love them!

Advice for the day.... Don't worry about what others think about having your love notes out for each other. Daily working on YOUR marriage is much more important!

P.S. These little love notes can be made for your children also!

Happy Valentines Day!

Valentine Images for YOU.....

North Georgia is Ice covered and with Ice our State stands still! It is a funny Ice this time, maybe a few snow sprinkles... But the ICE can be so dangerous here! We had a 27 car pile-up on one of the Interstates this morning. It's not that we do not know how to drive on it, It's that our State is not prepared for weather like this! I will say a few drivers don't respect the ice, but most do and the black ice still gets them! Saying that... Please, if you are from the North don't rub it in our face saying that we don't know how to drive ON it! Most of us also do not know how to Ice Skate...... LOL I love my Southern life and ways and this is an area that really gets to me when Northerners tell us that WE don't know how to drive!
Enjoy the "sweetness" !

"Family Survival Kit" for Valentine Day...

Over the next couple of days I am going to share a couple of simple, cheap gift ideas for your family members for Valentine Day. These ideas can also be used for other days, just to simply remind each other that we love them or that we are thinking about them. When my children were in Highschool (incredibly difficult time whether we realize it or not) I would sneak treats into their lockers just to let them know that their Daddy and I loved them. And if I knew certain friends were having a hard time I would do the same for them just them an encouraging word. It was a little effort on my part, a little money every once in a while, but it meant the world to them. Also, more importantly I was training them to walk in the footsteps of our Jesus Christ, To Encourage One Another!
I Love this "Families Survival Kit" because it reminds us of simple ways to help each other out as a family and you know, it really is that simple to love one another! I hope you will consider making this as a gift to your family for Valentines Day! They will love it and it will provide a good laugh together also! Also, can you imagine sending them to read this when they get into trouble?
A Families Survival Kit
* A Toothpick to pick out the good qualities in others!
*An eraser to remind us that everyone makes mistakes!
*A crayon to color our day cheerful!
*A marble for when we have lost ours!
*A puzzle piece to remind us that we need each other to make our family complete!
*A Smartie to help us on those days when we don't feel so smart!
*Dove Promises because we were on God's mind when He promised to take care of each of our needs!
*A Snickers to remind us to laugh!
*Starbursts to remind us to shine for Jesus!
*A Star to remind us to always do our best and reach for the sky!
*A Happy Face to remind us to Smile, Smile, Smile!
*A Tootsie Roll to remind us not to bite off more than we can chew!
*A Bandage to mend hurt feelings!
*A Kiss and a Hug to remind each of us that we are loved!
*Peanuts to remind us that it is OK to be a little nutty sometimes!
*And a jar to help us keep it All together!

Valentine ~ You Won My Heart....

My Valentine ATC inspired me to make this Chatter Knob Hanger. I found this vintage photograph of a soldier and I took a old bingo card to create this wonderful piece.
It was hard to get a good picture and if you are wondering what the drippings are ...
It is BEESWAX!!!
I love to use it to finish off my pieces!
It will be on my ETSY soon.

ATC Valentine & Directions...

This is the Valentine that I gave my Sweetheart last year! It is an Altered Art Trading Card. To make it, I scanned one of my vintage bingo cards and made it into a smaller scale to fit onto my ATC (altered art trading card). I then copied it onto a khaki colored paper, cut and sanded the sides and then I inked the sides to make it look even older. I then took two old pictures of us growing up dressed as sailors which was a perfect fit together (how amazing that we were always a perfect fit together). I ran them through photoshop to scale them to size and clean them up. I then copied them to a matte photo paper and then cut them out just like you would a paper doll. I decided to use Pop dots to make the photos pop up. I then made a ticket that said, "You won my Heart" on my computer using printshop. I attached the ticket and the jewels. Used a little more inking for aging and put an eyelet in the side to add some more bling. Before I added the bling, I decided to coat the card with a coat of beeswax for more aging. I allowed some of the beeswax to bead for effects. For more color I wanted to use red beads, heart and dice to finish off my project! To say the least ~ Reid loved it! But being Reid~ He loves everything I do! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful Valentine!
