Our Science Lab....

If you had ask me yesterday after Church if we would be able to have Halloween the way that we like to have, I would have said, "No Way can we pull this off". This past month has been so wild and hectic with my DAD being so sick and Halloween was the last thing on my mind. But with DAD coming home this past week things have been looking up for our family. After Church Sunday, the children showed up and the decorations came out. Jackie help me to finish 140 goody bags (not near enough for our 200+ trick or treaters), Whit made costumes for her daddy, JD and herself. Chase and Reid hung the decorations. JD and Whit carved the pumpkin. Finally, Jackie and Whit put the final decorating touches to the house! I was so proud of how everyone pulled together to keep our tradition alive. And I forgot.... I made two pots of soup and a pot of Velveeta cheese dip... My sister also made a pot of her wonderful chili. We have so many family members come to our home for trick or treating and they are one hungry bunch when they finish roaming the neighborhood! I have to say that Lakeshore Estates has to be the best place to trick or treat for families!!! It is a blessing to see our streets full of families on golf carts, hay rides and just walking around!

Standing on Holy Ground....

One of the first decisions Whit and JD made was to go barefooted at their wedding.
Exodus 3:5
"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."
Whit created a large blackboard for the entry of the wedding which invited everyone to remove their shoes for the wedding. As Whitney walked down the aisle with her daddy, Starla Harbin (our cousin) performed Holy Ground. I knew the Lord was surrounding each one of us at the wedding. Under the Special Touches for our Wedding, Whitney wrote.......

Barefoot - Exodus 3:5 "Then he said, "Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet for the place on which you are standing is Holy Ground."
We believe marriage is a very sacred and holy vow to another and above all to God. As "marriage should be honored by all (Heb.13:4)," we have asked our bridal party and anyone else who would like to partake in this honoring of marriage to remove their shoes... for you are now standing on Holy Ground.

Tutu's, flower girls and vintage flower baskets...

Finally, I can now post some of the pictures from the weddings! Today I am showing you our tutu flower girl, Reagan from Whit and JD's wedding! We fell in love with this little tutu when we found it on the Internet. I made a wonderful flower basket..... The first one was TOO big for Reagan to handle with her tutu! So, I had to make a much smaller version which was perfect. I included moss on the basket, scrabble tiles, a cross, watch, eggs, feathers and vintage lace! It was a perfect little basket for a perfect little flower girl! And yes, she is barefooted.... I will post about that tomorrow!

Village Blocks....

This week I am cutting out blocks so that I can have a class for children on building their own Christmas village. This has been a wonderful project for my family and I would love to start it up for others. We have hand painted our houses for years. It is so funny to look at some of the ones that my children painted when they were very young. Their dreams of owning a climbing store, of being a teacher and even carrying on our family store are shown through many of them. If you are interested in purchasing some of the blocks, I will be showing them in a few days with the price.

Spook City at Our Home.....

We love Halloween!!! We love the fact that children come to our home and get excited about our decorations, our goody bags and well.... I guess you could say the whole atmosphere! Last year we had over a 125 children come to our home! For Reid and I, that is so awesome! It is a chance to visit with the neighbors, see all our friends and just fellowship with each other!

This year with Pirates being so "hot", we choice to be a Pirate house. This was easy seeing that I had collected Pirate "stuff" for our Beach House. Did you know that you can get fish nets really cheap after they get holes in them from the docks? And I found a great place in Apalachicola to get old flags and other Pirate items!

When I was younger, I remember neighbors doing special things for us! Thinking back, I bet they enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed them! That's what I want to create for all my visitors, a great and safe memory of Halloween as I had!

Hope you enjoy the video!!!

A Splendid Adventure in My Creative World...

I knew the moment I came down the road.... This is the HOUSE where Mary lives! Have you ever felt a bond with a blogging friend so strong that you felt you had to meet her? Well, that is the way it was for me and my two blogging sisters Mary (A Splendid Adventure http://asplendidadventure.blogspot.com/ ) and Bev (My Creative World http://dreamsofpurelove.blogspot.com/). Bev was visiting Mary and to kill two birds with one stone, we decided to get together! I love old restored homes, so of course I had to go and meet them at Mary's house. (Note~ We had been talking and blogging for the past two years....No Fear)
Getting out of my car, I seen the beautiful, big front porch screen door open. Out of the house running and screaming (as best as we can at the age) Mary and Bev run out to greet me. Arms open wide, huge smiles and love surrounding them. Yes, they are crazy, fantastic sisters and I fit in right with them. Of course the day was extremely short with my visit. The girls served me a unbelievable lunch, we toured the house over and over again and we walked the grounds. The day could not have been any grander. And to show what a small world we live in~ My son knows Mary's new daughter-in-love and we know the family!
I know this will be the first of many visits for us, I have found two kindred spirits. I hope you enjoy my tour of Mary's house, believe me the pictures do not do it justice. It is a treasure among treasures as well as my friendship with Mary and Bev!
A Splendid Adventure happens when the hearts of friends come together in My Creative World.
