A Splendid Adventure in My Creative World...

I knew the moment I came down the road.... This is the HOUSE where Mary lives! Have you ever felt a bond with a blogging friend so strong that you felt you had to meet her? Well, that is the way it was for me and my two blogging sisters Mary (A Splendid Adventure http://asplendidadventure.blogspot.com/ ) and Bev (My Creative World http://dreamsofpurelove.blogspot.com/). Bev was visiting Mary and to kill two birds with one stone, we decided to get together! I love old restored homes, so of course I had to go and meet them at Mary's house. (Note~ We had been talking and blogging for the past two years....No Fear)
Getting out of my car, I seen the beautiful, big front porch screen door open. Out of the house running and screaming (as best as we can at the age) Mary and Bev run out to greet me. Arms open wide, huge smiles and love surrounding them. Yes, they are crazy, fantastic sisters and I fit in right with them. Of course the day was extremely short with my visit. The girls served me a unbelievable lunch, we toured the house over and over again and we walked the grounds. The day could not have been any grander. And to show what a small world we live in~ My son knows Mary's new daughter-in-love and we know the family!
I know this will be the first of many visits for us, I have found two kindred spirits. I hope you enjoy my tour of Mary's house, believe me the pictures do not do it justice. It is a treasure among treasures as well as my friendship with Mary and Bev!

Somerset Studio & Altered Art piece....

How in the world am I just now picking up my
Winter 2009 Somerset Studio Gallery?
I feel so behind in life......

I was able to quickly thumb through it last night and I can tell this is going to be one of my favorites!I love the Button Dolls! And I will have to say, that as always, the Christmas pieces are my favorite....
A little piece that I have been working on... I love the little small pieces, I can pick them up and have them finished in no time!

Another piece of Altered Art....

This is another piece that I enjoyed making for Chase! It is on a 12 X 12 canvas with sewing and words glued on. First I painted my canvas a base color. I made the photo on my printshop and glued it on the 12 x 12 canvas. Then I used some inking to antique it. The little piece is actually on a smaller piece of wood and glued up higher on smaller boards. I used beeswax over the piece to finish it. I love to sew on paper, I think it adds a great dimension to your pieces!
Chase had sent me the picture from college and I made the piece as a joke for him at Christmas! That's just the kind of family we are!!!

Tin Can Recycling...


After viewing Lisa Kaus's http://lisakaus.blogspot.com/ Tinny Collection in the The Best of Stampington & Co. Handcrafted Volume 4 Magazine, I knew I had to try it! My tin cans look nothing like hers... I found out a long time ago that I have my own way of creating art, and no matter how hard I try, I cannot recreate another persons work! As much as I like the soft colors that Lisa seems to use and Dawn Edmonson http://the-feathered-nest.blogspot.com/, another one of my favorite artists, use; I cannot seem to use them! My mind and hands are drawn to the jewel and rustic tones. I love the outdoors and I love to roam the woods in search of items to use in my pieces. Friends and Family that know me know that I love rocks! My children gift me with rocks when they go places and I love that! The tin is truly recycled~ The paper is from my scrap paper, The spoon and buttons were given to me by my Aunt Betty, she knows I love junkie treasures!!!! I paid for the bottom ball feet, wire handles with beads, eggs and nest in spoon (I couldn't find an old nest in the woods), paint and the two little burns on my fingers from the glue gun! Try this, you will love it! And don't forget about that special can opener I told you about earlier!

My Balcony Garden and Bliss...

I love to get comments, but for some reason I can't seem to stir up very many from you! LOL I know that I have visitors to my blog (I have this wonderful counter) and also WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME~ But, I would also would love to hear from some of YOU and know you were here! Most people that know me well, know that I love rocks. Rocks in any shape and form! The "welcome rock" was left in my garden after a surprise party I had given my SISTER by a lady that had attended. She had written me a wonderful letter thanking me for inviting her and she then told me to go to my garden and look to see how welcome and honored she felt to be in my home! There it was, my beautiful gift - The Welcome Rock that she had made. This has been one of the most thoughtful and sincere gifts I have ever received. I consider her a true Southern Christian Lady in every sense of the way! This rock has been important to me for over 10 years and I am sure it will remain that way for many more!
